Permits

Inspections

Responsibilities of this division consist of the inspection of construction and demolition of residential and commercial properties inside the city limits. A Building Permit Application must be submitted and building officials must approve the plans for the construction before construction can begin. After construction has begun, building inspectors perform a number of inspections to ensure that the building meets local and state codes including (if necessary):

  • A foundation and frame inspection
  • A gas inspection on natural gas systems
  • A mechanical inspection
  • An electrical inspection
  • A water and yard line inspection of the plumbing systems

Once all inspections are satisfactory, a Certificate of Occupancy is granted. All inspections can be scheduled by calling (512) 446-2511.
